Four Teenagers Attacked and Burnt A Mentally Ill Person to Death in Banten

Liputan6.com, Lebak - Four teenagers in Lebak regency, Banten province, are accused of attacking a 35-year-old man with mental illness. They burnt the body and attempted to throw the corpse to the sea.

All the culprits are aged between 13 - 16 years old, two of them are elementary school students.

Police unveiled that each of them did their part in abusing the man.

Suspect with initials HB (13) was kicking the victim's head twice, hit the body with wood, and forced the victim to drink urine and gasoline.

Another suspect identified as AD (14) assaulted the victim with wood and stone, and he burnt the face and arms of the victim.

MA (15) tied the victim with rope and hit him. MI (16) was also pouring gasoline to the victim's face and tying the victim's body to a tree near the beach.

Four suspects said they were angry at the victim because he threw stones at them.

"It was found the indications of abuse which was done en masse that caused the victim to die," said Andi Kurniady, the head of criminal criminal unit at the Resort Police of Lebak.

Furthermore, Andi revealed that the four teenagers were abusing the man from Tuesday to Friday, the previous week before the body was found. The victim's body was sighted by the locals on Thursday morning (15/6). Police suspected he already died for five days.

Andi said that all the culprits are facing up to 17 years in prison.
