Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Megawati Soekarnoputri, the leader of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P), has ruled out the potential collaboration between Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Minister Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election. The PDI-P firmly maintains Ganjar's candidacy for the presidential position.

In her speech, the Chairwoman of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, conveyed her perplexity regarding the speculations surrounding Ganjar Pranowo, PDIP's potential presidential candidate, potentially teaming up with Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Megawati admitted hearing the rumor through various media reports, suggesting that Ganjar might join Prabowo as his running mate.

She confessed to her astonishment upon learning about it herself.

"In the media suddenly it's said like this, 'yes, there's already an agreement that, later Mr. Prabowo will be the president, Mr. Ganjar will be the vice president'," Megawati said in the opening speech of the PDIP's Fourth National Conference on Sunday (1/10/2023).

"At home, I was astonished, pondering who had made such statements. As the chairwoman, I found it surprising that I had not been informed," she added.

Megawati encouraged party members to disregard the rumors concerning Prabowo and Ganjar Pranowo. She underscored that the selection of presidential and vice-presidential candidates should not be done haphazardly.

"Don't listen to them. How easy it is for them to match people up. Do you want that?" she said.

The Chairman of Gerindra Central Leadership Council, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that his party accepts PDI-P's political stance.

"We respect that," Dasco said to reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta on Monday.

"I think each party has already determined their choice. And I think we should focus on a fair competition. We also hope that every election will proceed smoothly," he added.

The registration period for 2024 candidates is 19-25 October. Only Anies Baswedan who has VP candidate.

Megawati Soekarnoputri, is optimistic that Ganjar Pranowo will become the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"I am confident, hakul yakin, ainul yakin (absolutely confident), Insyaallah, if we work hard, Ganjar Pranowo can become the 8th President," said Megawati, on Sunday (1/10/2023).

Nonetheless, she emphasized that this conviction can only materialize if every member of the PDIP is willing to take the field and actively connect with the populace. She asserts that it is solely through this method that Ganjar's aspirations for victory in the 2024 Presidential Election can be achieved.

Megawati conceded that she has a dislike toward surveys, but she conveyed her delight at observing Ganjar's increasing popularity and positive trajectory.

"While I often mention that I have a reservation toward data surveys, this morning, out of sheer curiosity, I took a peek at Mr. Ganjar's ratings, and take a look, they've been on a steady rise. However, without diligent efforts, there's the risk of a decline. What steps should we take? Oh, this is indeed worrying," she said.

Yet, Megawati holds the belief that the recent political efforts undertaken in the past few days have the potential to strengthen the cohesion among PDIP members, encouraging them to actively engage with the public

"With all that preparation, quickly return to your respective homes, follow the instructions, oh like this, what I shouldn't do, oh there will be sanctions, oh this and that," concluded Megawati.
