Liputan6.com, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo has confirmed again that President Xi Jinping of China is coming to Bali for the G20 Summit. President Jokowi and Xi Jinping are also scheduled to watch the development of the high-speed train project in Indonesia.

Xi Jinping's attendance was confirmed by Jokowi before he left for Cambodia for the ASEAN Summit.

However, President Vladimir Putin of Russia is not attending, although previously the Embassy of Russia in Jakarta said he had the intention to come. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will come in his place.

President Volodymyr Zelesky of Ukraine was also receiving an invitation from Indonesia, but he will only attend virtually.

Jokowi feels content although not all leaders can attend since the current state of the world is "not normal".

"I think during a normal position it is usual to have 17 to 18 (leaders) who attend. This is an abnormal condition. The world is having difficulty. All countries are in deep difficulty. If the attendance is reaching that number, I suppose that is very good, very good," said President Jokowi.

Others leaders who will attend are US President Joe Biden, President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission, and President Emmanuel Macron of France. CEO of Twitter and Tesla Elon Musk will also attend the G20.

Update:

Elon Musk did not come to Indonesia. He attended B20 Summit virtually.

The G20 Summit will be held on November 15-16 in Nusa Dua, Bali. Minister for Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said that the leaders will start arriving on Sunday, 13 November 2022.

Most of them will leave on November 16 to attend the APEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

"On average, (the leaders) will leave Bali in the morning of 16th or November 16, because many of the leaders are also flying to Bangkok to attend the APEC Summit," said Minister Retno on October 31.

She also highlighted the packed schedule as various world leaders intend to meet President Jokowi.

"This shows the enthusiasm and hope for G20 are actually still very high," she said.

APEC Summit will be held in Bangkok on November 18 and 19. US Vice President Kamala Harris will come to attend the summit.

Meanwhile, the famous actress Anne Hathaway is also scheduled to come to Bali as a speaker for the B20 Summit. The business summit will be held right before the G20 Summit.

President Xi Jinping will also watch the showcase of high-speed railway Jakarta-Bandung.

The development of the railway is based on the cooperation between Indonesia and China. This project has received considerable criticism because of the excessive and increasing bill.

The Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) said the train has been ready as part of the G20 showcase. President Jokowi and President Xi will watch the showcase virtually through teleconference.

All the parts of the train have been successfully reassembled after arriving from China in September 2022.

The high-speed railway will cover 142,3 kilometers distance from Halim Station in Jakarta to Tegalluar Station in West Java. It will transit in Karawang and Padalarang stations in West Java.

However, the showcase will only cover 20 kilometers from Tegalluar to Cikopo which is also in West Java.

Previously, President Jokowi and Xi were planned to visit Tegalluar before they scrapped the plan to just watch the showcase virtually.
