Liputan6.com, Boyolali - Eri Yunanto, an Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University student reportedly fell into the crater of Merapi mountain on Saturday, 16 May 2015.

Eri and 4 of his friends went climbing to Merapi mountain and shortly after successfully reaching the top of the mountain, the five of them decided to take a picture as a sign of remembrance of the rare opportunity.

Shortly after taking pictures, Eri who stood at the edge suddenly fell into the crate, leaving his friends in profound shock.

After Eri's friends reported such incident to any individual they encountered, they immediately went to seek help from other reliable individuals with relevant capability in evacuation mission.

Joint Indonesian Search and Rescue Team (SAR) deployed in search of Eri.

The evacuation process however, is not as easy as any other mission as the poisonous gas and the lava inside the crate are very much a threat to anyone who wish to come close to it.

The Head of Geology Department from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Surono suggests for the evacuation process to be done and determined by the condition of the sun.

This is because the sun is capable of helping disentangle these poisoinous gases especially during the day.

"Do not perform evacuation process during night time or when it is gloomy. There should be a ray of light from the sun because it helps decompose those threatening gases," Surono informed in Yogyakarta, Monday (18/5/2015). (Akp/Tnt)
