Suspected Baby Body Part from AirAsia Crash Examined by DVI team

The recent finding by Majene fisherman led to the speculation that it may not be the baby body part DVI team was expecting.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of East Java found a number of discrepancies in the post mortem identification process of the body part belonging to the baby from AirAsia QZ8501 crash.

There has been a widespread speculation claiming that the body part of the baby found is not the one belonging to the victim of AirAsia QZ8501. Another speculation also emerges as there is a claim of the object found is non-human.

 "Up until now, DVI team has done an intensive investigation involving anthropologist, odontologist, DNA expert, as to make sure that the body part of B077 is non-human," The leader of DVI team Budiyono said, Surabaya, East Java, Tuesday (03/02/2015).

The body part labelled B077 was given to DVI team on the second of February 2015. A fisherman at Kabupaten Majene, South Sulawesi, discovered the body part.

AirAsia QZ8501 lost contact with the Soekarno International Airport Jakarta Air Traffic Controller at 06.17 am local time on 28 December 2014. The plane departed from Juanda International Airport Surabaya and was bound for Changi International Airport Singapore. The plane was carrying 155 passengers along with 7 cabin crew.

Joint SAR team has alredy recovered 77 victims, four among them are the flight attendance of AirAsia QZ8501. The body parts of the fight’s pilot and co-pilot have not yet been found.

The DVI team labelled each body part found, as they are no longer in one piece.

The SAR team major successes include the recovery of many passengers, plane’s black box, body and tail part of the aircraft and belongings of passengers. The SAR team continues their operation to find what is left from the crash. (Akp/Ein)
