President Jokowi Talks 'Military' with Cambodian PM

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo finally visited the 60th Asia-Africa Conference today after spending some time in Surabaya to speak in front of thousands of cadres from a local Islamic University. Today, he met with the Prime Minister of Palestine who was accompanied by his Foreign Minister.

Apart from Palestine, President Jokowi also took the time to meet with the Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Sen.

President Jokowi claims the topic that was discussed focused on military cooperation between the two nations. He also said that the Cambodian Prime Minister expressed his gratitude, towards him as Indonesian Air Force Personnel along with especially trained body guards have been assigned to secure the Prime Minister and other foreign delegations.

President Jokowi hopes for Prime Minister Hun Sen to consider the possibility of Cambodia to extend its interest in purchasing the military weapons and uniform from Indonesia. He also desired Cambodia’s willingness to perform military training here which will be followed by the consideration to enhance economic relations, through the purchasing of uniform and the weaponry.

"Cambodian Prime Minister thanked me for all the military preparations being made in welcoming foreign delegations such as himself. I went to discuss with him about military training here, and I encourage him to consider buying uniform and weapons from Indonesia," President Jokowi explained during a press conference, Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Tuesday (21/4/2015).

President Jokowi believes, Indonesia has the capacity to compete economically in an increasingly competitive world. Therefore, it is imperative to enhance such economic relations through the promotion of Indonesian exported goods.

"I believe that it is important to promote products that are acceptable in the worldwide eyes. Especially our garment, I suppose our garment industry can compete," he added. (Akp/Tnt)
