Liputan6.com, Jakarta - 'Tanah Abang' situated in the heart of Jakarta city is an area which holds many stories and has often been viewed as a safe haven for thugs.Â
Their presence surely makes criminality in the area inevitable and despite authority's endeavour to station a number of its skilled personnel, the amount of security forces deployed are often outnumbered.Â
Moreover, their arguably absolute domination in the area makes these security forces an inferior one with little influence to control the population residing in and around the area.

In facing such issue, Tanah Abang Head of Police Sector, Officer Harry Sulistyo initiated the construction of security posts at 8 crucial points within the area of Tanah Abang that are evidently susceptible to criminal activity.Â
These posts will have 4 to 6 invigilators in each and every one of it to continually monitor the activity at those particular sub-areas, and determined to provide quick assistance or response to any unwanted event caught on sight.
Among 8 areas targeted for surveillance mission, 3 crucial ones include Tanah Abang traditional market, Jati Bunder and Kampung Bali.Â
Their patrol schedule will be intensified during holy month such as Ramadan.
"Tanah Abang Police Sector has established 8 surveillance posts in crucial locations within Tanah Abang area," Officer Sulistyo informed Liputan6.com, Tuesday (30/6/2015).
Officer Sulistyo further explained how his department also launched 'antipremanisme' (anti-thugs) operation, following establishments of 8 surveillance posts.Â
The operation is also experiencing intensification during the holy Ramadan month. (Akp/Tnt)
