Indonesia is hosting the 'International Conference on the Question of Jerusalem' until tomorrow.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi has just officially opened the ‘International Conference on the Question of Jerusalem’ theming: ‘Addressing the present and shaping the future of Jerusalem’ at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, Indonesia. The event concentrates very much on the enduring conflict which questions the legal status of Jerusalem as well as the actors behind the making of such justification.

Five influential figures have been assigned to give remarks for the opening session and they include: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Indonesia and Representatives and Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Douglas Broderick, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine Affairs Organization of Islamic Cooperation Samir Bkr, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine Riad Al-Malki and Vice Chairman of the Committee on the exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

Palestine Foreign Minister Riad Al-Malki shares how the State of Palestine seeks the opportunity of coexisting with Israel and to jointly indulge in the privilege of a balanced status quo within the region of Jerusalem. He also however, speaks of the challenges faced in the attainment of such ambition.

"The occupation lasts for 47 years and so we are now here to draw the line of hope and prospect for the future. It is for the State of Palestine to coexist alongside State of Israel," he postulated in front of attendees of the conference.

"We want to know where we are in the world map. Israel is trying to change the conflict from political to religious, where there is no solution, and that is why we are keen to defeat enemy to make clear that Jerusalem should be capital of peace and prosperity and coexistence," he added.

He further shares how Palestine will not allow for Israel to change the status quo and gain domination over the region as mutually benefiting solution ought to be the one governing the end solution.

In-depth analysis and examination upon the issue followed by presentation of experts over such prolonged tumult in the Middle East are to be included in the furtherance discussion during the plenary session held this afternoon. The event will continue to take place until tomorrow.
