The incident took place on Thursday (30/3/2023). Police in Medan said they already received the report of the stealing.
Anwar promptly apologized after the incident became viral. He insisted that it was just an accident and shared the blame with the staff.
" I have apologized to Novi, the owner of that watch. It's purely a mistake of accidentally bringing (the watch) because the staff of the shop stated that the watch was mine without me checking in the bag whether it was my watch or not, thus I just took the watch" said Anwar Sani in his written statement on Monday.
The DPRD member said the watch is identical to his own watch. After realizing he got two watches, Anwar said he intended to return the other watch, but the incident already became viral.
Busy Mind
Anwar Sani said already apologized directly to the owner of the watch. He also apologized to the public for the incident.
"No intention of taking it, it was purely a mistake," said Anwar.
Furthermore, Anwar said the report has been withdrawn from the police.
Anwar said his activities have been hectic. His mind, Anwar revealed, was busy which led him to lose focus and accidentally took the watch.
The netizens, however, do not readily give a free pass to Anwar.
One netizen sarcastically pointed out about the corruption among politicians, that they might steal the people's money because the money looked identical with the money in their own bag.
