Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Secretary Cabinet, Andi Widjajanto confirmed President’s Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo’s support for the Minister of Justice and Human Rights plan to revise the remission policy for corruptors and terrorists currently jailed for large- scale cases. The topic has been hotly discussed for the past few days and it has widely divided the pros group to the cons one.

"Basically, President Jokowi supports and request for the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to prepare for such policy to be legitimately established," Andi said at the Presidential palace on Thursday, 19 March 2015.

Andi further informed how the policy revision for remission will not only be placed upon those who perform corruption but also other kind of criminal activity perpetrators. This is to help unravel other criminals that maybe affiliated to them.

Finding criminals alone without any inside information from the already detained inmate is relatively hard as it means the police force has to start from zero and guess on its own. Whereas information collected from those who are already inside will provide the police force with some valuable information that might lessen their tasks.

"What we want to do is to give remission so that there is a sense of justice for their cases to be considered," he added.

What is now being prepared by the Ministry of Justice and human Rights right now is the recently decided remission policy for corruptors, terrorists, drug dealers and many other criminals.

This is because it is easier to gain more information from the people who are already detained. The chances are, they are willing to give information as they want to leave the prison sooner than already decided.

They will give names previously unknown to the police force or if they do know, the police will be able to retrieve information regarding the potential inmate whereabouts. This is also to lessen the tasks of the police as they would already have the information regarding the operation target, all they need to do is execution of the capturing process.

"So the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights is currently improving its system by giving remission to all convicts who are currently under the Ministry of Justice and human Rights’s watch. So not just corruptors, other convicts can also get the privilege of remission should they be willing to give information regarding other criminals who are still out there," Andi concluded.
