Liputan6.com, Jakarta A 55 year-old Indian National with the name Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje has earned the status of Indian authority’s most wanted fugitive with the last two decades spent running off from one country to another. His name has been changed scores of time with the globally famous one being ‘Chhota Rajan’ and almost causing doubts during his recent arrest in the resort island of Bali in Indonesia when his passport was identified under the name of ‘Kumar Mohan’.

Assuming role as one of the most feared gangster in India, Chhota Rajan successfully caused himself to be the focus of local police, Interpol and authorities of several countries global manhunt agenda with 28 years spent just to locate his whereabouts and put him behind the bars.

He had committed scores of criminal undertakings in the past which then led to him being charged for offences in connection with his involvement in murder cases and illegal possession and usage of firearms. The Indian Express claims to have been contacted by top intelligence sources who went to inform that Rajan had been hiding in Australia for over a year and such knowledge had already been expressed to the Indian authority five months ago so that preliminary warnings can be sent to the Australian authority.

Chhota Rajan was arrested on Sunday 25 October 2015 at 13.50 pm by immigration officers as well as police officers from airport police sector KP3 after arriving at the international terminal of Bali Ngurah Rai airport, Indonesia. He flew from Sydney, Australia headed for Bali with Garuda Indonesia airlines flight GA-751.

Australian Interpol warned Indonesian Interpol on the very same day with a Red Notice flagged with the number A-360/7-1995 to catch a man whose passport number is detected as G9273860.He was initially taken to Bali Resort Police Headquarter but was quickly transferred to Regional Headquarter one due to lack of space in the resort department and the need to put him in a more ‘special’ place for investigation to be done effectively.

Indian Interpol (CBI) expressed their utmost gratitude towards Indonesian and Australian Interpol for making it possible to capture the man who has killed 25 people in his past.

"We thank authorities in Australia and Indonesia for their prompt assistance. Further investigation and identification are being carried out and further action will be taken as required under law," said Anil Sinha the Director of CBI, as cited in TimesofIndia.

Rajan is expected to be deported back to India soon. Bali police however said that such deportation will only be done should there is any clear instruction from the Indian’s Interpol.

“As for Chhota Rajan’s deportation, we are still waiting for the Indian consulate in Jakarta to contact the Indian Interpol as notify our recent arrest and so they can continue the conduction of any legal process against him back in his country,” Director of Common Criminals from Bali Regional Police Department, Bambang Yogaswara stated on Tuesday 27 October 2015.
