Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Wearing the traditional ‘Batik’ attire has always been the habitual tradition of the Indonesian population. Originating from the island of Java within the Indonesian region, the intricately done technique is used to make uniquely- patterned clothing, quilt, decorations and many other equally fascinating types of apparel.
To appreciate the long- preserved heritage, the country sought for the official establishment of a day marking the profound appreciation of the general population as to the beauty and culture of ‘Batik’.
By the 2nd of October in 2009, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has led to the official declaration of such date dubbed as the Indonesian Batik Day or ‘Hari Batik Nasional’ as a sign of preserving gesture of the national inheritance by those who valued the traditional textile industry to its very core which the institution defined as ‘Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity’.
