Liputan6.com, Jakarta The European Union has now established a deeper relationship with its Southeast Asian counterpart and such has been translated through the recent opening of EU representative for ASEAN office in Jakarta.
It has also appointed Fransisco Fontan, man of Spanish descent, to represent and become the first Ambassador of European Union for ASEAN to be stationed in Jakarta.
Scores of high-level individuals from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry and organizations in South East Asian region including ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Mihn and Director for Dialogue Partners and inter regional Affairs Derry Aman went to attend the official opening of the representative office situated in Intiland Tower at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Jakarta.

“I would like to congratulate on the recently opened EU to ASEAN representative office in Jakarta. This reflects the strong and continually growing relationship binding EU and ASEAN closer together,” ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Mihn shared, Tuesday (26/1/2016).
“EU has always been viewed as among leading strategic partners to ASEAN and therefore we look forward to the furtherance of deepening tie of one another in the future to come,” he continued.
Ambassador Fontan shared similar remarks commenting how EU and ASEAN both share DNA with the vision and mission aimed at the improvement of welfare of people through the creation of peaceful environment in varying aspects.
